That's the question I found myself grappling with after 23 years in the tech industry, working for companies ranging from Fortune 500s to scrappy startups. As a woman in a male-dominated field, I thought I knew what it meant to triumph over challenges and carve out my own path. But midlife has a way of making us reevaluate everything we thought we knew.
That's why I traded in my MBA from London Business School and my fancy titles for a new passion: helping other midlife professional women and non-binary people navigate the complex terrain of this pivotal phase. As a transpersonal therapist and coach, I draw on my own hard-won wisdom and insights to guide my clients towards greater self-awareness, purpose, and fulfillment. Whether you're struggling with burnout, feeling stuck in your career, or simply yearning for something more, I'm here to help you rediscover your spark and create a life that truly lights you up. Because as I've learned firsthand, midlife isn't a crisis—it's an opportunity to finally become the woman you were always meant to be.
The Midlife Awakening: Why I Started The Midlife Now
Seven years ago, at the age of 42, I found myself standing at the edge of a precipice. I had spent over two decades climbing the corporate ladder, pouring my heart and soul into a job I once loved. But somewhere along the way, the shine had worn off. The organisation I worked for had become a toxic quagmire of politics and bullying, and I was drowning in it. To make matters worse, I was in the midst of a divorce, and the stress was taking a heavy toll on my mind and body. I was exhausted, plagued by heart palpitations, unable to sleep, and struggling to focus. My once perky enthusiasm and creativity had been replaced by a suffocating cynicism.
In a moment of clarity, I realised that something had to give. And so, on the eve of a major project delivery—the culmination of years of hard work and dedication—I made the agonising decision to walk away. It felt like I was setting fire to everything I had built, throwing away my value and identity in one fell swoop. But as painful as it was, that decision marked the beginning of a profound transformation. Suddenly, I found myself embarking on a journey of intense exploration—at times exhilarating, a bit crazy, and sometimes filled with pure, unadulterated joy. I came to understand that midlife is meant to be a time of transition, a period when we question everything we thought we knew and reevaluate our priorities. It's a chance to shuffle the deck and create a new layout—one that is more authentic, grounded, and aligned with our true selves. And while it can be uncomfortable and rarely arrives in a tidy package, it is an immensely worthwhile endeavor.
This realization ignited a passion within me to help other women and non-binary people navigate this transformative phase. As a transpersonal therapist, I am fascinated by questions of meaning and purpose, and I draw on my own experiences as a former executive to guide my clients towards thriving both professionally and personally. My background in technology and my global perspective have instilled in me a deep commitment to ensuring that women and non-binary people are informed, involved, and heard in the key trends shaping our world.
And so, The Midlife Now was born—a platform dedicated to empowering women and non-binary people to embrace the challenges and opportunities of midlife, and to create lives of purpose, passion, and authenticity.
